As one goes further up north and west of Los Angeles, they will begin to encounter the Valley of Los Angeles. This is a more suburban portion of the city where there is a very family friendly neighborhood feel rather than the busy city life of Los Angeles. Some of the famous neighborhoods here are Encino, Burbank, Sherman Oaks, and Calabasas. It is called the valley mainly due to the fact that they are surrounded by several mountains, and as a result of this geography, temperatures can get extremely hot during the summer.
As a result of all the mountains and hills, the valley is a popular spot for people to go hiking and appreciate the natural wildlife of Los Angeles instead of sitting in the dreaded traffic jams of the city. These include the Caballero Canyon Trail, which spans 2.7 miles, and the Cave of Munits, which is more friendly for younger hikers. Despite the shorter distance at the Cave of Munits, it is a great opportunity to take photos with magnificent rock structures. While most people think of tall skyscrapers when they think of Los Angeles, these hiking trails are a nice divergence from the usual experience.
Because the valley is usually more secluded from the rest of the Metropolitan region of Los Angeles, many celebrities opt to live here instead. The county of Calabasas is very popular among celebrities including Kanye West, Kim Kardashian, and Travis Scott. Additionally, celebrities including Kevin Hart and Logic reside in the Encino area. Because of the abundance of celebrities living in the valley, it’s worth paying attention to the people around you on your next grocery trip. Who knows, you might run into someone you look up to.
