Sports Teams in Los Angeles

Los Angeles is home to many world championship winning sports teams that have made an impact in sports history. There is basically a team for every professional sport in Los Angeles, such as basketball, baseball, football, soccer, and many more. Sometimes, there are even more than one team for the same sport. Due to the size and population of the city, fans are extremely energetic and give great support to these teams.

Possibly the most famous of all Los Angeles sports teams is the Los Angeles Lakers. They are one of the few teams that were able to win the NBA Championships three years in a row, and this was made possible by basketball greats like Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal. However, there is actually a second basketball team from Los Angeles, the Clippers. They are not quite as popular and have never won a championship, but they are still well recognized. Both of these teams play in the Staples Center.

In addition to basketball, Los Angeles also has two Major League Baseball teams. These are the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Los Angeles Angels. The Angels actually play in the city of Anaheim, which is very south of Los Angeles and close to the world famous Disneyland. Most recently, the Dodgers were in the World Series two years in a row, but they came short and lost both years. Something interesting about the sporting events here is that sometimes they host college and university nights for students to have discounted tickets!
